About

  • Kilver Court is a historic site in the heart of Shepton Mallet, owned by the Showering Family. At various times housing a lace factory, a building society and the iconic mid-century brand Babycham, Kilver Court now hosts outlets for brands such as Mulberry and Toast, and a recently renovated café and ballroom.

The gardens, originally created in the late 19th century by Ernest Jardine, were constructed for the enjoyment of factory workers and included a boating lake, recreational spaces and allotments for workers to grow their own food. Now an RHS-partnered garden open to the public, they provide a beautiful and tranquil space to relax and unwind.

Learn more about Kilver Court and Gardens here.

How to get here

  • We're 15 minutes from Wells, 20 minutes from Glastonbury and Frome and 30 minutes from Bath. We are located on the main A37 on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet (at the foot of the rolling Mendip hills) in the heart of Somerset, opposite the cider factory. Look out for the brown 'Kilver Court Garden' signs as you head into Shepton Mallet. Park in the overflow car park here, then cross the road to find us on the other side of Kilver Street.

  • With a shower and cycle locking points, we're well set up for cyclists. Reach us via the multi-user path from Shepton Mallet to Whitestone Road and the Strawberry Line link to Wells.

  • The 162 bus starts at the Cenotaph in Shepton Mallet and ends at the Hospital in Frome. The 669 bus connects Shepton Mallet to Pilton, West Pennard, Glastonbury, and Street. Both stop within a short walk of Kilver Court

Local train links are frequent and our nearest mainline station is Castle Cary. Kilver Court is only 10 minutes away from Castle Cary station by car and takes approx 35 mins by bus. There is a bus that runs from Castle Cary Station to Kilver Street (Charlton Inn bus stop).
